Jamaica Jamboree

Yeah, mon!  Jamaica was so exciting my heart was palpitating to a calypso beat the whole time I was there!

I did 12 presentations in 3 weeks, including a 7-day old fashioned New Thought Revival for a fantabulous RSI Religious Science Church in Kingston, founded by, and ably led by Rev. Elma Lumsden.  From 80 to 100 people attended every evening, and there were awesome healings (physical, i.e., a woman with a paralyzed right arm and hand from a stroke being able to move naturally,) mental, (a woman with sickle cell disease who almost died from it had been cursing it and actually now sees the blessings in it), emotional (a person who found it impossible to forgive her brother and literally wanted to murder him, forgiving him and crying for hours,) and spiritual (everyone deepening their conscious connection to Divinity.

I was totally blessed to have an audience with the Governor General of Jamaica at the King's Palace to present to him to following idea, which I want to present to you as well.  My friend and colleague, Rev. Crystal Bujol, and her church members, started the idea of lighting a pink candle and praying for the inner city children of L.A. 13 years ago, showering them with love and success.  This began in order to counteract the "negative press" the inner city children received, i.e., "They'll never make it. They're an endangered species, etc."

That negative energy had to be transformed into a positive, supportive environment--the environment of our future leaders.  Now, all those children are graduating successfully in the year 2000!  Thank You, God!  And the prayer has expanded to not only inner city children in Los Angeles, but all the children in the world.

I brought that idea to Jamaica, and an appointment was immediately made for me to see His Excellency Howard Cook.  He loved the idea, being a former teacher and a very spiritual man. He is going to put it on TV, and will be going back into the classroom to teach one-hour lessons. He is  actually thinking about starting those lessons with lighting the pink candle and praying for all the children of the world.  He will introduce the idea to all the churches and synagogues of Jamaica as well.

And so, I ask you, my beloved brothers and sisters, if this idea speaks to your soul, why not have a child light a pink candle every Sunday and pray for the success, love, and support of all the children of the world? Oh yes, it was also Carnival time when I was there and I danced 3 1/2 hours to steel bands playing calypso!  I also swam in the Blue Lagoon which was 17 shades of green, turquoise, and blue!  It's a hard job but somebody has to do it!
