The Ganges is the most revered and sacred river in India.  Located at Hardiwar, in the foothills of the Himalayas, this sacred light ceremony  is one of the most spectacular sights you can see, as the river is aglow with thousands of lights at the place that has been blessed by the trinity  of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma.

ITINERARY

Day 1  Leave for India

Day 2   Arrive Delhi, transfer to & overnight at your hotel.

Day 3   Delhi - Sightseeing of Old Delhi by deluxe coach with English Speaking Guide.  See biggest mosque in India, Jama Masjid; experience an exciting rickshaw ride in a typical Bazaar.  Visit Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.  Visit magnificent Bahai Temple.  A shopper's paradise awaits you (silk & wool carpets).  Lunch & carpet demonstration.  Afternoon visit Qutub Minar Complex, the tallest mosque in India.  A brief visit to state of the art Apollo Hospital, recently featured on "60 Minutes."  See stately govt. buildings as we drive by India Gate, Parliament House, Laxmi Narayan Temple and Conaught Place.  Overnight at your hotel.

Day 4   Delhi-Jaipur - Morning drive to Jaipur by deluxe coach w/countryside stops.  Tour this Pink City, surrounded on all sides by rugged hills and medieval fortresses.  Visit museums, observatory, and Palace of the Winds.  Custom clothing can be made overnight.

Day 5   Jaipur - This morning you will experience your first elephant ride.  Then you will visit the famous Amber Fort, situated atop a hill overlooking the city.  This was the old capital before Jaipur was built.  The Palace is laid out at different levels on the hillside and surrounded by a fortress.  A ride on a decorated elephant to ascend the hill to the Palace is a thrilling experience for every visitor.  Afternoon free to explore.  An evening visit to Chowkidhani Resort  - a typical village fair exploding with performances and Indian cultural scenes.  Shop for diamonds and jewelry.  Your custom clothes are ready!

Day 6   Jaipur/Agra - via Fteh Pursikri.  We drive to Agra, enroute visit fabled Fateh Pursikri, a red sandstone ghost city built by the Mughal Emperor, Akbra, one of the finest examples of Hindu/Muslim architectural splendor at its height.  Arrive in Agra.

Day 7   Agra/Delhi  - Agra is the home of the world-famous TAJ MAHAL, best described as poetry in marble, because of its beauty, grace and exquisite workmanship.  We also visit  Agra Fort, standing opposite the TAJ on the banks of the Yamuna River, which contains a wealth of palaces and monuments that recall the days of Mughal splendors.  Afternoon drive to Delhi.

Day 8   Delhi/Jalandhar - Morning drive to Jalandhar.  Enroute visits along the countryside and see the holy city of KurauKshetra.  You will see a huge temple where it is said the fabled Battle of Mahabharata took place.  Overnight at your Hotel at Jalandhar.

Day 9   Jalandhar/Beas/Amristsar - Morning drive from Jalandhar to the Dera at Beas and the residence/ashram of the living Master.   From a line of Sikh Gurus known throughout India, this compound of houses the largest mystic/spiritual library in the world.  If possible, we may get an audience with the Master, but will certainly learn about one of the most profound metaphysical teachings on the planet and the community visited by seekers from around the world.  Proceed to Amristsar where we will visit the Golden Temple, the holiest place of the Sikh religion.  Drive back to Jalandhar.

Day 10   Islandhar/Chandigarh - Morning drive to Chandigarh via the ancient ruins of Ropar, an archaeological site of great importance.  Red Harappan pottery, stone blades, copper & bronze objects such as spearheads, arrowheads and razor blades have been found in this community that was inhabited from about 2100 B.C. to 1700 A.D.  You will see Sukhna Lake, a scenic natural wonder where people come for a meditative walk.  One of the great wonders of India, the Garden of Rock and Stone, built by one man over a lifetime with multicolored pieces of useless stones and throw away objects like fragments of china and ceramics.  Overnight in Chandigar.

Day 11   Chandigarh/Rishikesh - Leave Chandigarh early AM.  Time permitting we will stop in either Mahan, Paonta Sahib, Dhera Dun for a visit.  In the evening we observe Ganges Ceremony at Haridwar, where the Ganges is revered, located in the foothills of the Himalayas.  The evening ceremony is one of the most spectacular sights you can see with the river aglow with thousands of lights.  Haridwar has earned fame as being the place which has been blessed by the trinity of Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma and a source of Ayurvedic medicines and herbal remedies.

Day 12   Rishikesh/Delhi - Morning visit to Ganges and the magnificent temples in Rishikesh, abounding in natural splendor the gateway to the Himalayas.  Leave for Delhi around noon, arriving in Delhi by 6 pm.  Dinner (Special Farewell dinner).

Day 13   Delhi - Leave for USA at early AM.  Arrive USA same dayflight.
